1. INTRODUCTION
Client: AMANDLA Social Enterprises
NPO Registration Number: 077-589-NPO Registered
Address: 7th Floor, 16 Baker Street, Rosebank, Johannesburg 2196
AMANDLA is a globally award-winning social enterprise with over a decade of experience in the development sector, specializing in infrastructure, youth and community development, and sport for development. With offices in South Africa, Germany, the United States, India and Côte d’Ivoire, AMANDLA currently operates 14 active sites across South Africa, with additional strategic sites under development.
At the heart of AMANDLA's work is the Safe-Hub® model, a youth development platform designed to create safe spaces that enable opportunity, belonging and access to services for young people from underserved communities. Our mission is to disrupt cycles of poverty, inequality and exclusion through system-level collaboration, value driven leadership and inclusive practice.
In support of this mission, AMANDLA is seeking to deepen its understanding of the social and economic value generated through the Safe-Hub model. Alexandra Safe-Hub, one of AMANDLA's most mature sites, has been selected for this concept and study.
This Request for Proposals seeks a qualified service provider to partner with AMANDLA's Impact and Performance Department and MEL team on the design and pilot application of a Social Return on Investment framework.
2. PROJECT OVERVIEW
AMANDLA is undertaking this study to better understand, evidence and strengthen the social and economic value generated by Alexandra Safe-Hub. The study will support organizational learning, strategic decision-making, programme improvement and the responsible allocation of resources.
Through this work, AMANDLA seeks to establish a credible and practical approach to identifying, measuring and valuing the outcomes generated through Alexandra Safe-Hub.
This RFP covers the development and pilot application of an SROI framework for Alexandra Safe-Hub. The framework will consider the site's active products and anchor economic activity and will be tested through a pilot calculation using available site data.
The framework will provide an overall basis for understanding the value generated by the site, while the pilot calculation will focus on a representative selection of material outcomes informed by the data and evidence readiness assessment. The appointed service provider will work closely with AMANDLA to design, test and document this framework. The study will provide AMANDLA with a clearer understanding of the value created through Alexandra Safe-Hub, the evidence currently available to support this value, and the areas in which data and measurement can be strengthened. This is a defined, once-off assignment focused specifically on Alexandra Safe-Hub.
3. SCOPE OF WORK
The service provider will be responsible for the design, delivery, and independently assured reporting of the Alexandra Safe Hub SROI study. The scope covers data and evidence assessment, framework and methodology design, calculation and testing, and the development of a scalable SROI framework for AMANDLA.
