About St Anne's Homes
St Anne’s
Homes is a shelter for abused women with their children and has been in
existence since 1904. Our shelter services include therapeutic interventions,
general counselling, specialized services such as trauma counselling, private
health and psychosocial care if and when necessary. Group and individual
therapy, personal growth and development, job readiness programmes, legal
assistance and entrepreneurship training.
Our services include, providing sheltering for women and their children who are victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV). Offering both short term and long-term accommodation of 3-6 months for victims of Gender Based Violence, including sheltered accommodation, therapeutic interventions, counselling and support to reduce the prevalence of Gender Based Violence and to see the victims transform into optimally functioning and self-reliant individuals.
The main objective of the organization is to provide a place of hope and healing for vulnerable single parent families separated through domestic violence, abuse, poverty and unemployment. To prepare women for the job market, in order to provide for themselves and their children. To link women with suitable employment. Preparing women for living on their own. Providing comprehensive education and therapeutic services to the children of these mothers and to ensure effective implementation of services.
On an annual basis, approximately 100 women with their young children benefit from our services. Between 70-80% of the women find employment and are able to provide for themselves. They greatly experience improved relationships with their children and may become reunited with their families. Their children also benefit enormously from our educational and therapeutic programmes and their mother’s stability and security.
